Pushback 191 - The Final Dispatch
In January 2025, I sent my first Pushback post to three people. I said, "As a reminder The Pushback is a news and information aggregator (for now) that aims to share information about the people and organizations who are opposing Trump's authoritarianism and, just as importantly, proposing a new and better social contract after he's gone."
As the number of this newsletter suggests, I've done just that. 190 messages with literally hundreds of news stories about the people and groups fighting the administration. I saw this as a "good news" dispatch. Reading the news through the lens of my heroes felt like a different way of facing our reality. It left me believing that we would see exactly what happened this week. Almost every headline has felt like a new reality. Trump isn't gone, but through our collective power, his power is greatly diminished, and we have learned who our fellow citizens are. Good people who will elect the finest politicians we can find to correct the corrupt and inept government that the Trump administration has fashioned for itself.
I do not think the work is done. We still need "a new and better social contract," and I will keep looking out for the people and organizations doing that work. I no longer feel like I need to put a filter on my own news consumption, however, and plan to return my focus to my many other projects. So this is the last Pushback (unless I need it again). If you want to keep track of me and my writing, I recommend you follow me on Instagram at @Andrealdooley or at Bluesky at adooley.bsky.social or subscribe to my Substack The Octopus and The Ant or buy my books on Amazon or keep an eye out for my memoir, forthcoming from Cynren Press in 2028.
Phew. Onward, folks. Keep fighting the good fight.
